I'm at Least Less Cranky Than I Used to Be, Right?
So, a friend of mine recently told me that I am the crankiest person he knows. The CRANKIEST. That to me is like angry+old. When you don't have the energy to do stuff about the things you complain about, so you just complain louder. Definition from wiktionary:
Hmm. Well, I can see that I guess. But I haven't seen this friend in a long time, and I'd like to think I've become at least less cranky. I'm working on getting rid of the crank altogether. But I know that I can sometimes get easily upset, etc.
Moving on. Life has been really good lately. I just had my 90 day review and did pretty well; no major problems to speak of. I still love my job and my coworkers. I don't really like it when it's this slow at work, because then I do stuff like this blog and feel like I'm wasting time. But there's just not much to do right now.
I also finally officially moved to Chico. My g/f and friend all got a really sweet house. I'm having a blast setting up my room. But I need a tv stand, or to mount my tv on the wall...
I think I'll go bother phil. This is even boring.
Grouchy, irritable; easily upset; Full of spirit; crank; Addicted to crotchets and whims; unreasonable in opinions; crotchety

Happy Thanksgiving!
It's Wednesday night, Nov 26th, Thanksgiving Eve, and I'm very happy. I've not felt this happy in a long time. I have some serious issues with happiness; the moment you get it, it goes away. It's easier to be unhappy, or at best void of emotion. That sounds really bad and pathetic, but it's not all that bad; it's a way to be guarded for the worst. The worst will always come, it's just a question of when.
But today, today I am happy. I like my job. I like the house I'm moving into. It's Black Friday, the worst day of the year for me because I spend so much damn money on pointless crap, and I think I'll be buying one item (Simpsons Season 10, $15). There's a couple 1TB drives I want from Newegg, but I just don't have hundreds of dollars to drop. And, you know what, I'm okay with that.
This blog is pretty revealing, I know. Perhaps it's the music I'm listening to (Nico - Fairest of the Seasons - Royal Tennenbaums Soundtrack). But I am trying really hard to get across the point that I feel happy, content, and it's great. My plans for this weekend, this great, 4 day weekend:
-Buy The Simpsons Season 10
-Thanksgiving with family, packing for the move in December
-Get the network WORKING at home - and working well
-Perhaps work a bit on some web stuff.
I've got some people lined up for web design maybe (pretty big maybe). Last site I made, I did for a car stereo. I don't mind since it's good experience and I enjoy doing it, and heck, I've always wanted a nice car stereo. But I could use some real cash, so I'm hoping my web stuff comes through.
I think I'm going to eat, watch King of the Hill, and then fiddle with the router. Life is good, for four days. Hope it can hold out that long.

I Hate Everything About the Things That You Choose to Be: Addendum
So, it only took me maybe 1/2 an hour to get my site looking right in IE tonight (my site this time being this site right here). Had a problem with the top of the tag cloud, but, well, I've gotten better with design and css since I made that sucker. I had some crazy contraption of hidden spans and absolutely positioned divs that just made no sense. In less 13375p34k: the site was poorly coded, and now I know what I'm doing, and it works in IE and Fx. Joy to the freaking world.
Oh but I still hate IE.
Oh but I still hate IE.
I Hate So Much the Things That You Choose to Be
I hate internet explorer. It's the bane of my existence. I have spent the better part of the last two nights trying to figure out why things weren't displaying properly in IE. Turns out it was a menu I had implemented using javascript; it starts as an unordered list and becomes a horizontal menu once the dom is ready. Well, IE 7 (and below I'm guessing) has a hard time with this. It takes my image with absolute positioning a little too literally: once that image loads, it's positioned absolutely. Nevermind that the unordered list has now become horizontal and the rest of the elements are moving up; the position:absolute image stays where it is.
In Opera and Fx it worked great. No issues. Even IE 8, which has finally adopted some standards, took care of it okay. But IE7, which I'm guessing most of the internet is using still, looked like crap.
Turns out I simply had to add float to the list using css, and it didn't have to wait for js to kick in and make it horizontal. IE still has some random trouble with it when I hard refresh though. Hope nobody notices, but then, I'm sure IE users are used to things looking not quite right. Heck, it's why IE 8 has that little backwards compatibility feature built in to turn on IE7 rendering. I honestly wish there was a developers version of IE8 with rendering capabilities of 5.5-7. Although, I think at this point I'm not developing for 6 and below. It's too late for them now.
Oh all right, I show you the website in question. Hopefully it looks great no matter your browser :D Now, to add a better image gallery, a few random pages scattered about, and I'm DONE. Never again will I develop for anything besides Fx. Never again.

Lesson N-Squared: Web Comics
Everyone knows what a comic is: from Batman and Superman paperbacks to a strip about Garfield and lasagna, everyone's read at least one. What some may not know about (usually non-nerds), is that the internet is a booming medium for comics and has been for some time. Check after the break for the low-down on the nets most popular comics and why you should be reading them.
Lesson N-Squared: Nerdiness Is Getting More Nerdy
Okay so nerdiness isn't getting any nerdier, and I sure as heck aren't going to help it along, but whatever, I think lesson n² sounds cool. It's also a little nerdy; n=nerd, n=number, ²=uh, well square anything and it's cooler, by, well, the amount it was times itself.
Anyway, I will be writing some little nerd lessons here, for everyone not in the know and that might always be wondering about what the hell is going on with their nerdier friends.
Today's Lesson: 133t5p34k, continued after the break.

Life Blog
Well, this has become less of a blog of 'everything interesting on the internet' and more of a personal blog, but oh well.
Fixed a few things with the site today; nothing major, but cleaned up some code; really just wanted an excuse to mess with stuff. You won't see any difference.
Looking for a place for my own to live; would be really cool to live on my own...
why am I blogging? It's 3 AM. I'll finish this up tomorrow...

Everyone at Work Is Really a Big Doo-doo Head!
People that work with computers are lame. I hate them. They sit around, in their nice chairs, drinking starbucks coffee and saying "Oh maybe I'll check my electronic mail!"
What the hell is electronic mail anyway? The mail comes in the MAILBOX; if it's electrocuted, you'll get zapped. Like Ernest in that movie. MAN WHAT A FUNNY MOVIE! I wish I had electricity shooting powers! Then I'd shoot everyone with computers and they'd be all "Oh I'm so shocked!" Oh that is RICH.
Girls are especially dumb, and should not use computers. They will only break nails as they type electronic mails and then that means the men using the computers will have to type even MORE electronic mails to catch up, and since everyone using a computer is retarded, it won't ever get done. Monkeys are really the ideal candidate for the situation, since monkeys often steal my mail and probably other people's electronic mails as well. I caught a large monkey stealing my mail once, but nobody believes me.
I've been to a couple websites lately and they sucked. Like 'google'. I went there and there's nothing even there. Just some box for sending more mails. I tried to send a mail but instead it threw a bunch of ads at me for things related to the mail. What a worthless site that is!
Hmm, the libary is closing soon, so I better get going. It's been fun. If you're reading this, you are an idiot, because you are most likely at a computer. If this was sent through regular mail, please put me on the list to receive the internet in my regular mail box, because I've been trying to get it for a long time and the idiots at AT&T are no help, they say it can't be done, but someone I know said anything can be done with the internet, so why not making the internet come to me by post?

TV: When Is Too Much Too Much?
#Television, #Tv, #Tv Shows, #Shows, #Comedy, #Drama, #Dexter, #House, # Md, #The Office (US), #Heroes, #Overconsumption, #American Values
I don't believe there is a 'too much' of anything. I mean, who ever heard of 'too much' food? Or 'too much' alcohol? Nobody. People the world over are dying and sobering up and people in America think they can act like over-consumption is some sort of crime. HAH.
I love watching television though. Currently, I am fully involved in a gazillion shows. There's House MD, Dexter, The Office, Heroes, and I'm re-watching Flight of the Conchords. I think 30 Rock comes on again soon, and then there's Lost. It really sucks waiting a week for each new show though. I want it all, right now, shoved right down my eye sockets.
I am running out of room on my computer though; really need to build my server I've been thinking about for so long. With prices of hard drives ranging from $80 for 750 gigs to $120 for 1 TB, it's become very affordable. What I should do is get my HTPC running again so I can just record these shows, but it's a real hassle.
Any cool shows I should know about? Let me know in the comments!
