#Blockbuster, #Previously Viewed DVD, #Cheap Movies

While Blockbuster has of late had quite a few cheap DVD sales (mostly bundles such as 4 for $20, but also some random $3.99 and $5.99 discs thrown in), they rarely really have anything I want. That all changed today.
While I don't have a complete list, here are a few titles that are worth looking out for. (Most of the ones I don't remember, I don't remember for a reason).

* Capote
*Jarhead (Single Disc - and was there some sort of transfer problem with Blockbuster copies of Jarhead?)
* United 93 (Single Disc)
* Thank You For Smoking
* Ultraviolet
* Brokeback Mountain

I'm only picking up Thank You For Smoking and United 93, and maybe Jarhead if there was really no transfer trouble as I seem to remember reading about (apparently, Blockbuster's widescreen discs were cut-off some or something, I think a 1.78:1 ratio instead of the larger, 2.35:1.)

If I see more worth posting I will, but in the meantime, any recommendations from the short list? What's good/bad/sucks? Anything you readers will be picking up?

When this site was originally conceived, it was a personal blog. But after conception, there was some minor surgery and what we have now was born: a site which tries to collect as many interesting and helpful things as it can for people to read about. One of the topics that I post about most is bargains on movies and game; I simply think I know bargains, and am amazed when I see people spend too much money (and not care, no less). I know a girl that saw Ice Age 2 for $16.99 and said it was a "good deal". I'm sorry, but that's a terrible deal.
So I thought now might be a good time to let you all in on the secret: I read a lot of forums and blogs. I know not everyone has the time for this, nor the want, so that's where I try to pick up the slack and collect all I can. But a lot of stuff falls through the cracks, or is simply too-short-lived to be posted, because by the time anyone read it, the deal would be dead. My recent post about a Babel BD comes to mind; I believe it was most likely dead when I wrote the article, but the disc was still $0 and still available for purchase. I guess I'll see later this week if it comes.

According to a tipster at Kotaku, the ridiculously bad (yet so weird they're cool) 360 games at Burger King have dropped from $4.99 to 99 cents. Verification comes in the form of a photograph, although I haven't seen for myself yet, and not having a 360 might make this a tough impulse buy.

Welcome to another edition of The List! For all one of you reading, I'm sorry I don't write these up sooner; I totally could but I've been trying hard to get the site in a state where I can show other people. But there is something YOU can do, and it's quite easy, to get the list as early as possible: head over to the dvdtalk forums and check out the posts by speedy1961 each week; he posts all three circular ads, usually two weeks in advance. Verbatim 20 Pack DVD+R Double Layer Discs : $29.99 - I haven't been up on dvd recordable media in a while, but this seems really good for DVDR9's, and Verbatim no less. It's still about $2 a disc, but it's still better than I usually see. I'm just waiting for $1.00 to .50 cents a disc before I even consider DVD9's.
