Why I Won't Be Upgrading to a Nintendo DSi

#NDS, #Nintendo, #Nintendo DS, #Video Games

dsi_172.jpg
Well, I'm hoping I won't be upgrading, but knowing me I'll pick one up the week it's released in the US. But I do have my reservations about the upgrade, and for those that are interested, you can find out more after the break.

WRV: Kokoro Scan

#Weakly Random Video, #Kokoro Scan, #Nintendo DS, #Nintendo, #Weird, #Japanese, #Video, #Funny, #Catchy, #NDS, #WRV

This weeks Weakly Random Video is a Japanese commercial for a Nintendo DS game which is supposed to guess your mood by the tone of your voice when you speak into the NDS' microphone. And it's the weirdest thing I've seen in a long time. Catch it after the break.

Weakly Random Video: Simpsons DS

#The Simpsons, #Video Games, #Nintendo DS, #NDS, #Platformer, #WRV, #Weakly Random Video

The Simpsons, for all it's amazing humor throughout the years, has always been one one thing in the eyes of video gamers: a much-maligned cash cow. Simpson's Hit & Run and Simpsons Road Rage were about the only Simpsons games that have done well in recent years, and those were just driving games. The Simpsons Arcade game is one of my favourite platformers, but really just because it's the Simpsons. But the slew of low-quality, extremely difficult (at least for me as a child) Simpsons games on the NES and SNES/Genesis were never very well received. Virtual Bart, Krusty's Super Fun House, and Bart Vs. The World are just a few of the titles which seemed to be average platformers with Simpsons characters haphazardly thrown about.
Hopefully, The Simpsons new DS game will change all that, and bring back some of the platforming elements of the Arcade game. Video after the break.

DotD: Final Fantasy Chocobo Tales (DS) $20

#Amazon.com, #DotD, #Deal of the Day, #Final Fantasy, #Chocobo, #Cute, #Video Games, #NDS, #Nintendo

Amazons Deal of the Day got my interest right away: Final Fantasy Chocobo Tales for the Nintendo DS priced at $20. I've heard some mixed reviews on forums, but the reviews seem pretty decent: An 8.3 (impressive) from IGN; an 8.0 (great) from Gamespot; 67% Fresh on RottonTomatoes; and an 8.3 from users on Metacritic, with 75 generally favorable reviews. Seems not too bad.
The game is essentially a bunch of minigames with cute, large, yellow chicken-like birds (the Chocobos, whom we all know and love). The games range from typical Mario Party fare to some sort of card game (which I got really excited about hearing because that was one of my favorite aspects of FFVIII and FFIX).
Of course, with all DotD's, it may drop to $15, or even $10 (VERY unlikely), so you may want to bide your time; but don't wait too long or it will turn back into a pumpkin at midnight.

Every SNES Game Ever

Do you like video games? Vintage games? And do you have, oh, say, $15,000 you've been trying to unload but just haven't found that perfect item?
Well look no further, as this ebay auction is ready to make all your dreams come true! The seller has up for sale EVERY US SNES GAME, complete in box, many unopened. The cost is high (about $20 a game), and it's totally impractical, but I for one wish I was super-rich for times like these.

Hardcore video game nerds unite, rejoice, and watch funny videos. I would have saved this for a WRV but this is too cool to let slide for 4 more days.
New Super Mario Bros.

You can catch one more after the break :D You can find the rest in the source.

The List: Vol1, Issue 3

Welcome to another edition of The List! For all one of you reading, I'm sorry I don't write these up sooner; I totally could but I've been trying hard to get the site in a state where I can show other people. But there is something YOU can do, and it's quite easy, to get the list as early as possible: head over to the dvdtalk forums and check out the posts by speedy1961 each week; he posts all three circular ads, usually two weeks in advance. So don't call me lazy; you have the power!
Alright onto The List for this week.

Each retailer is supposedly getting Wii's in this Sunday, so if you've been looking for one, now might be your chance. Another good reference is WiiSeeker (www.ps3seeker.com/Wii)(It's worth it, btw).

Best Buy
Wii's - $249.99 - 20 Per Store MINIMUM
Verbatim 20 Pack DVD+R Double Layer Discs : $29.99 - I haven't been up on dvd recordable media in a while, but this seems really good for DVDR9's, and Verbatim no less. It's still about $2 a disc, but it's still better than I usually see. I'm just waiting for $1.00 to .50 cents a disc before I even consider DVD9's.

$7.50 DVD's
Donnie Brasco: Special Edition
The Aviator
GoodFellas: 2 DVD Special Edition
Beavis & Butt-head Do America: Special Collector's Edition
Caddyshack

Circuit City

LOST: Season 1: $29.99
Family Guy: Volume I: Season 1+2: $24.99
Scrubs: Season 1: $24.99 (Personally, on both Family Guy and scrubs, I would hold out for $20; I've seen them that low and they will go there again.)

The Shins: Wincing The Night Away - $8.99 (Really good band!)

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (NDS): $29.99 (Although this is the standard fare for a DS game, this one is very good and totally worth $30).

$7.99 Games
Medal Of Honor: Rising Son (PS2)
Star Trek: Encounter (PS2)
Space Channel 5: Special Edition (PS2)
Bomberman Jetters (GCN)
GUN (PS2)

Once Again Proving I'm A Middle Aged Woman

perler_bead_art.jpg
A flickr user has posted their awesome collection of homemade DIY perler bead video game coasters (and magnets too!) I've seen this popping up lately, and I think it's really cool, despite how "girly" it may seem. I think this coming week I'm going to be making some myself; I really want a Mario Mushroom to put on the fridge.

The List: 01/14/07 - 01/20/07

#Wii, #Nintendo, #Sale, #DVD, #The List, #Circular Ads, #Best Buy, #Target, #Circuit City, #Video Games, #Vol1 Issue2

Well, I'm a few days late on this, but mainly because I've been getting the site updated and ready to launch. I almost didn't post, but I figured I might as well try to be somewhat consistent.
You can find the original threads about these deals at the dvdtalk forums, which I'll link to in the 'read more' section. Speedy1961 does a great job on these so don't let the adventure end here; click the read more to check out stuff I didn't list.

This weeks deals are "weak deals". HAHA GET IT? Alright, so let's begin:

The List: Vol 1, Issue 2

Best Buy
Surprisingly little this week. Of note:
$3.99 & $9.99 DVD's - I didn't see anything really, but give the list a quick browse if you've got four to ten dollars burning a hole in your wallet.

Circuit City
A little better...

2 for $15 - Must be purchased on same receipt.
The Aviator
Full Metal Jacket
Blazing Saddles: 30th Anniversary Edition
The Constant Gardener (Buy this movie if you haven't already!)
Cinderella Man
Caddyshack
Unforgiven (Probably not the 10th Anniversary Edtion, but still a good movie. My advice: Wait for best buy to throw up some more 2 for $20 SE Movies; I think Unforgiven is usually on the list).
Gremlins: Special Edition
The Wedding Singer: Totally Awesome Edition
Catwoman <= SERIOUSLY? Not worth $7.50 :P

Wii Games $29.99 Each
Rayman: Raving Rabbids ($10 cheaper and I'd be all over this)
Red Steel
Tony Hawk's Project 8

Target
Nothing that I want!

And remember, as always, PLEASE read speedy1961's threads on dvdtalk about these deals; much more info!
