TV: When Is Too Much Too Much?
#Television, #Tv, #Tv Shows, #Shows, #Comedy, #Drama, #Dexter, #House, # Md, #The Office (US), #Heroes, #Overconsumption, #American Values
I don't believe there is a 'too much' of anything. I mean, who ever heard of 'too much' food? Or 'too much' alcohol? Nobody. People the world over are dying and sobering up and people in America think they can act like over-consumption is some sort of crime. HAH.
I love watching television though. Currently, I am fully involved in a gazillion shows. There's House MD, Dexter, The Office, Heroes, and I'm re-watching Flight of the Conchords. I think 30 Rock comes on again soon, and then there's Lost. It really sucks waiting a week for each new show though. I want it all, right now, shoved right down my eye sockets.
I am running out of room on my computer though; really need to build my server I've been thinking about for so long. With prices of hard drives ranging from $80 for 750 gigs to $120 for 1 TB, it's become very affordable. What I should do is get my HTPC running again so I can just record these shows, but it's a real hassle.
Any cool shows I should know about? Let me know in the comments!

Daria: A Retrospective
Alright, not so much a retrospective in the sense that I'll have videos and anecdotal little tidbits to throw your way about the animated MTV show "Daria", but retrospective since I've been, for the past week or so, watching Daria nonstop and it's been fun to look back on the cartoon. I won't clutter up the main page though, so click through the break if you wanna read more about everyone's favorite teen outcast.
The Maxx On DVD... Sort Of
For those of you that don't know about the 90's comic by Sam Kieth entitled The Maxx, I suggest you check out the Wikipedia article, followed by watching some of the animated MTV series. I recently came into some Maxx DVD's (and I'm not sure how much more I want to say, but, thanks to encoder smclean2000). So, feeling all creative, I decided to try my hand at a DVD cover for said DVD's. You can check out the preview below, and then tell me what's wrong (or maybe right) with it, and then even download it yourself.
Credits go out to smclean2000 for a great dvd set, angryblue.com for the blood splatter brushes, and chockingonstatic for the circle brush, and of course Sam Kieth
.Amazon Sale On TV DVD
Amazon is having a sale on some TV on DVD. With DeepDiscounts sale, DVD Planet, Best Buys fox sale, and now Amazon, there are tons of great options if you've got a little extra cash.
All Fox TV On DVD $19.99
This week Best Buy has just about every Fox TV on DVD show on sale for $19.99. Some shows (such as Rescue Me) are produced by Sony but aired on Fox, so they don't count, but most stuff like the Simpsons, X-Files, and Family Guy DO. For a complete list, just check out the Fox TV section at BB or the link in the source. And, for extra fun, if you can get it to work, here is a scan of a coupon BB has been handing out good for $10 off any Fox show. I'm hoping it works for Family Guy, but it does state it's not good for sale prices and it's all up to the register and the employee. Good luck!
Prepare Your Mind-For a Mind Explosion!
#Mind Explosion, #UCB, #Upright Citizens Brigade, #MTV, #The Human Giant, #Sketch Comedy, #WRV, #Weakly Random Video
Wow but it's been a while since I've posted a WRV - What I am now dubbing 'weakly random video' (nice little pun eh?) So without further ado, let's check out one of the funniest new shows on television - unfortunately on MTV - The Human Giant, a sketch comedy program starring Aziz Ansari, Jason Woliner, Paul Scheer, and Rob Huebel. They've got a cult NYC following already since they came right out of the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater, which, btw, if you liked the Comedy Central show UCB, you'll love Human Giant. Check after the break for some magic, and hit the source to see their official website. Oh and leave me some damn comments people!
Circuit City Memorial Day Sale
For anyone still following along at home, here's a sale poised to strike this Sunday/Monday: Circuit City is offering a variety of cool things for pretty good price during Memorial Day(s).
What I'm most interested in is an Olevia 32" 720P LCD HDTV for $499. My g/f just bought one for a bit more and it's pretty decent. At this price it's definitly worth it. Add a AAA Circuit City 10% off coupon to it and it gets even better (if they take it, will comment when I find out on that one).
Also of note is that I believe if you sign up for a CC Credit Card you can get 0% APR until 2009 with a purchase of over $200. So I'm hoping to grab a TV for about $483 (w/tax and coupon), and put it on a new credit card so I don't have to deal with it :P
Check after the break for more info on their sale.

The List: Vol1, Issue 3
Welcome to another edition of The List! For all one of you reading, I'm sorry I don't write these up sooner; I totally could but I've been trying hard to get the site in a state where I can show other people. But there is something YOU can do, and it's quite easy, to get the list as early as possible: head over to the dvdtalk forums and check out the posts by speedy1961 each week; he posts all three circular ads, usually two weeks in advance. So don't call me lazy; you have the power!
Alright onto The List for this week.
Each retailer is supposedly getting Wii's in this Sunday, so if you've been looking for one, now might be your chance. Another good reference is WiiSeeker (www.ps3seeker.com/Wii)(It's worth it, btw).
Best Buy
Wii's - $249.99 - 20 Per Store MINIMUM
Verbatim 20 Pack DVD+R Double Layer Discs : $29.99 - I haven't been up on dvd recordable media in a while, but this seems really good for DVDR9's, and Verbatim no less. It's still about $2 a disc, but it's still better than I usually see. I'm just waiting for $1.00 to .50 cents a disc before I even consider DVD9's.
Donnie Brasco: Special Edition
The Aviator
GoodFellas: 2 DVD Special Edition
Beavis & Butt-head Do America: Special Collector's Edition
Caddyshack
Circuit City
Wii - $249.99 - Vouchers will be handed out on Sunday 1/21/07, 1 hour prior to store's opening - Minimum 9 per store - See Speedy's post for more details

Family Guy: Freakin' Sweet Collection
LOST: Season 1: $29.99
Family Guy: Volume I: Season 1+2: $24.99
Scrubs: Season 1: $24.99 (Personally, on both Family Guy and scrubs, I would hold out for $20; I've seen them that low and they will go there again.)
The Shins: Wincing The Night Away - $8.99 (Really good band!)
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (NDS): $29.99 (Although this is the standard fare for a DS game, this one is very good and totally worth $30).

Star Trek: Encounter (PS2)
Space Channel 5: Special Edition (PS2)
Bomberman Jetters (GCN)
GUN (PS2)
Target
Wii - $249.99 (I hear min. 10 per store)

Wal-Mart.com $20 TV-on-DVD
#TV on DVD, #Wal-Mart, #The X-Files, #Arrested Development, #Sale, #The Outer Limits, #Angel, #Lost in Space, #Online Sale
A poster at my favorite forum, dvdtalk, has posted a thread about a Wal-Mart online sale of tv-on-dvd. There are quite a few different sets here at the obligatory $20 mark that most tv-on-dvd seems to hit and then stop at. Some items that caught my eye were The Outer Limits, The X-Files, Angel, Arrested Development, and Lost in Space. Even with DeepDiscounts 20% off sale you can't beat these prices.
